Haha, yes. I've gone all Martha and currently have an empty laundry basket, but that won't last. I also have pulled out some mending, probably dating from when you first published this article. To be honest, I immediately felt guilty when I started reading this, wondering if I'd previously revealed my vile habits!
I loved Style Notes in Good Weekend too—I’ve not read a ‘fashion’ column before or since, even though I’m very interested in fashion, clothing, dress, costume, textiles etc. You’re obviously a hard act to follow!
I don’t remember reading this one before—glad to know the wicker baskets of laundry deposited around our house are true feng shite.
What a wonderful reminder of the fabulous and much loved Style Notes column. I don’t remember this particular column but I read it with the usual smile on my face, thank you!
I've just finished The Book (Would You Rather), and was such a great read while I was stuck in the gate lounge at Auckland Airport for FIVE AND A HALF HOURS trying to get to Melbourne. All I can say is they are very lucky I had something so interesting and amusing to read or I would have been much less patient. I must also say that your Author photo was particularly lovely. Also there is a typo on pg 57 that you probably left in to make all us pedants happy we caught it, but in case not and you want to fix it in the online/future editions I think "That's we why keep a full time driver", should be "That's why we keep a full-time driver". Please can you start writing another book ASAP?! :)
Just spent the afternoon googling "how to get melted beeswax out of a fine woolen shawl" that I've only just gotten round to retrieving from the back of the wardrobe.
Loved your Good Weekend column but missed this one. So good. Looking forward to reading your new book on holiday in Europe because I bought it in Aus before I got here

I never missed reading your column in Good Weekend, a coffee & the paper at my favourite cafe was a Sydney weekend morning ritual.
Just ordered your new book with some Xmas dosh. Thanks Maggie x
