This is from their show in Cardiff earlier this year. I’ll put up Glasto pics if I can get them on Sunday morning.

I thought I was over the whole Glastonbury schtick and tuning in to watch Neil Young’s headline on Saturday night set confirmed it. The sound was indescribably bad and the different members of the band didn’t seem to be playing the same tune.

They all looked like they’d just been feeding the hogs.

I gave up on it, but when I clicked it off I saw that Scissors Sisters were live on another stage. Quick! Get over there! I’m on the guest list!

And what a party it was. E P I C.

Apparently there were technical issues at the start of the broadcast, but coming in late as I did, they were in full magnificent flow. Like Sesame Street moved into a squat on East Seventh Street in 1990 and blew some absolutely wicked drugs.

It was a proper show, with dance routines, high kicks and costume changes – oh and a knighted actor, because here’s Sir Ian McKellan live on stage, knocking out the monologue from their track Invisible Light, like King Lear found disco (and got big on the poppers).

The outrageously glamorous Bridget Barkan (taking over Ana Matronic’s role) was Kathy Kirby come back via Taboo. Jake Shears in a sprayed-on bodysuit didn’t even leave your imagination to your imagination. It was ruder than naked.

The whole thing was like ADHD in queer human form. With feathers.
