The first thought I had when I saw these New Balance 1906Ls was: ‘This is the ugliest damn shoe I have ever seen.’

Immediately followed by: ‘Get me a pair NOW.’

I am not alone in this desire. Sold out everywhere and commanding inflated prices on Farfetch and eBay, this ‘snoafer’ first appeared last September and has just been released in this new silver-grey colourway that has unleashed the lust.

The original black just isn’t quite so good.

Because it could be accidentally overlooked as a normal shoe. But not in this slightly sinister silver combo, no way. Everyone is going to see you coming in these babies. And most of them will be horrified.

Bring it!

So why do I love them, when I do know they are absolutely screaming hideous? It’s the sheer audacity of it.

The last time I felt like this was when I was walking past the big Bond Street Prada store in 2012 and I saw this shoe in the window.
