This man is going to be the first YouTuber billionaire

If, like me, you thought all big-money YouTubers were conspiracy theory nut jobs, or hideous 90210 brats, you will be as pleased as I was to meet Mr Beast.

Maybe you already know and love him. He’s got 238 million followers, so I do understand that I’m the one playing catch up here.

I read an article about him in the news pages of The Times today and immediately raced to YouTube to see what all the fuss is about.

His USP is that all his posts are about doing good turns.

Due to his following heft, they are are now richly ‘sponsored’ in the US style, with in-flow ads and product placement, so he rakes in loads with every one he puts out – and then he gives loads of it away.

One of his most famous posts is when he got 100 stray dogs adopted in a week.

Let me know if you can watch it without crying. (In a nice way.)

How refreshing to see somebody with these values packing a billion. I can’t see him building a space rocket any time soon. He’s got better things to do with his money.
