Love that email. Mine will say “Have cold cuts this time and get everyone to bring a salad. A full Christmas dinner plus all the trimmings plus all that washing up is wrong on a 33 degree day. Do not cave this year!”
Reason is a bit cringey--a list of the people I always forget to buy gifts for, and want to remember this year (e.g. my mechanic, that colleague who always surprise gifts me).
That made me laugh so much especially as I had a wonderful light late lunch with beautiful seafood, vintage champagne and an ice cream cake here in hot Sydney and THEN promptly got a gastric bug at 3.30 am on Boxing Day which took care of the next two days. Sorry a very long sentence and no doubt grammatically incorrect 😉
Hello Di - that is so lovely of you and good to know it's not working via the Substack link. I haven't tried the Buy Me a Coffee App, I'll have to have a look on my daughter's computer. Here is a link directly to my page on it, so I hope it will work better. And wishing you a very Happy New Year https://buymeacoffee.com/maggiealderson
I'm not sure that the advice about two boxes of mince pies can be right! I managed to get through 4 at least and a Christmas cake (although I don't like icing so my Santa, giant robin and tiny trees look like they're in a muddy field😂). Although that would be over 4 weeks. Happy new year to you have a fun evening x
I forgot to buy chocolate covered nuts. A heinous sin, apparently. Never mind that there was every other indulgence known to man available via fridge and pantry.
PS you can never have too many Charbonnel et Walker, especially at Christmas. Xx
Could you please send that email to ALL your subscribers next November! Xx
Good plan!!! I will repost it as a reminder x
and send Bronnie's ham recipe too please please please xxx

Seasons Greetings and Happy New Year! x
Literally wrote myself a list for next Christmas.
Was it to stop you going overboard?

Should it be 'rein' it in rather than "reign"?
Yes - no subs on Substack despite the name. Thanks x

I did have a small piece of Christmas cake today... it's the icing and marzipan I really like, so we could share one!

Totally relate to the ‘siege mentality’, I did exactly the same thing. The fridge is still heaving with food!
