Brilliant post, I've been feeling just the same about my wardrobe. I open the cupboards/drawers and just put on the same jeans or cords and a jumper I feel so boring. Now I'm inspired to try everything on and see what's lurking there!
Maggie, Blue Illusion dark denim jeans, posted from Sydney. Possibly called Bengajeans. I can do it for you if you like, but you will need to send measurements. That's okay, we are married, after all.
You are very kind and I will look at the brand, but I have to gird myself to go into a shop and try on.... it's so hard for me with all the high rise jeans around. They come up to my armpit xxx
What a great idea! I’m feeling the rut too (also trying to buy less - inspired by you!) so will give this a go.
Also, I’m having an issue with Substack where your posts do show up in my feed - not even the paid one, even though you’re my only paid subscription. Not sure if this is a problem for others too? I’ve tried a few things but can’t figure it out.
I do find the site quite confusing... are you saying they don’t show up in Notes? Do you not get an email with every new one? I really appreciate this feedback and would love to know more.
They don’t come up in the Substack inbox and I don’t get an email. I just signed up another newsletter and it’s not appearing either so it must be something to do with my account. Going to attempt to delete everything and start fresh. PS just ordered your book and I’m so looking forward to getting into it when I wrap up a big work project in a couple of weeks!
I have the same issue. This is my only paid subscription and I don’t get the emails and it doesn’t go into the in-tray within the Substack app either. Weird.
Thank you so much for alerting me to this Helena -, and for doing me the great honour of making this you only paid Substack. I can't tell you how much that means to me – and I'm gonna take this up on the site today xxx
I’ve sorted myself out with a manual workaround - I just look up your posts on the app to see if there’s anything new. I thought it was something I had done, so I tried unsubscribing and resubscribing after an unproductive chat with the Substack AI support chatbot but so far it’s still the same. It’s probably user error (me) - it usually is!!
Salsa jeans! I'm curvy but short. I find the high waist comforting, like a thunder vest for my peri-tum but they do mid and low rise too. Look for the soft denim for comfort.
Salsa also have a good resale price so if you find your "fit" you can pick up more pairs second hand.
The Salsa shop reminded me of the Just Jeans and Jeans West stores in Aussie Westfields. Once I knew my style, I could find it online. A lot of Irish owned boutiques have mail order with free returns. So you can still shop "local" to get your size.
I keep a range of waist sizes. 34 are my "driving jeans" to pull on like trackie pants in the morning, a tee and a M&S cashmere cardigan.

Let me know how it goes.

I always put on my best pants when going up to town.
Under pantage? Me too

And thank you soooo much for choosing me as your only Paid. That means a LOT ♥️♥️♥️
